A cracked expansion pipe at race time is about the worst thing that can happen. You've got a race day on the calendar, the bike is prepped, and then you find a crack right at the stinger junction. That's exactly what came through our shop - a dirt bike expansion chamber with a clean crack splitting right through the weld seam where the stinger meets the cone section.

Here's what we were working with. The crack ran straight through an existing weld, which tells us the original joint had some stress built up over time from heat cycling and vibration. That's pretty normal on a race pipe that's been putting in serious work. The problem is a crack like that won't stay small - it grows, it kills your power band, and eventually you're dealing with a much bigger headache.

We got it on the welding table and went to work. The repair wasn't just about closing the crack - we reinforced the joint so it can handle what gets thrown at it out at the cinders. That means proper prep, clean material, and a weld that's built to hold up under real race conditions. Not a patch job. An actual repair.

This is the kind of work we do all the time with our custom exhaust welding and fabrication services. Whether it's a crack, a failed seam, or a stinger that's seen better days, thin-wall exhaust tubing on a dirt bike requires a specific skill set. You can't just run a bead and call it good - the heat management and fit have to be right or you're back at square one after a few more laps.

If your pipe has a crack, a failing weld, or just needs some fabrication work done to get it race-ready, bring it in. We work on expansion chambers, stingers, full custom builds - if it involves exhaust tubing and a welder, we can handle it.
