Not every vehicle comes ready to tow - and buses are a perfect example of that. This Thomas Built bus needed a custom receiver hitch welded directly to the rear bumper so the owner could tow a car and run a bike rack off the back. No bolt-on kit was going to cut it here. This was a full fabrication job.

We started with raw square tube stock and fit it up to the rear of the bus frame before striking an arc. The Miller welder was loaded up and ready to go, and we used an angle grinder to prep and clean the metal before laying the beads. Getting the receiver tube properly squared and centered to the bumper is the kind of thing that matters a lot down the road - literally. A hitch that's even slightly off can cause trailer sway or uneven load distribution, so we take the fit-up seriously before we ever start welding.

The finished receiver hitch is welded solid to the bumper and sits centered and clean. It's built to handle real load - towing a car on a dolly or hauling a loaded bike rack. This is exactly the kind of custom fabrication work that comes out of our shop. No two vehicles are the same, so we work from the metal up to make sure the end result is right for the specific vehicle and the specific job it needs to do.

If you've got a bus conversion, a skoolie build, a work truck, or really anything that doesn't have a hitch from the factory - we can build one. Custom exhaust work and custom hitch fab are both in our wheelhouse, and we use quality equipment to back it up. The work speaks for itself.
