A broken trailer pocket is one of those problems that stops everything. The ramp won't sit right, the trailer isn't safe to load, and every hour it sits is money out of the customer's pocket. That's exactly what we were dealing with here - a semi trailer with damaged aluminum pockets that needed to be fixed right, not just patched and hoped for the best.
This wasn't a daytime shop job with perfect lighting and ideal conditions. We rolled out late at night and got to work on-site. That's what mobile welding is all about - you don't always get to pick when things break, and neither does the driver counting on that rig to keep moving. We brought everything we needed to get it done on the spot.
Aluminum welding requires a different approach than steel. It's softer, it conducts heat differently, and a bad weld on a structural component like a trailer pocket can fail under load. We took the time to prep the material properly and lay down solid welds that would hold. The fabricated bracket you can see mid-repair shows the kind of custom metalwork that goes into making sure the fix is built to last, not just built to look finished.
Once the pockets were repaired and the ramps seated back into place, the trailer was ready to roll. No shortcuts. No guesswork. Just a solid repair done under pressure, in the dark, so the customer could get back to work. That's the standard we hold ourselves to every time we show up.
